Turning 47.
Some people start stressing out the closer they get to 50. To be honest I’m not that worried about it. Here’s why. Before I transitioned into becoming a social media manager and coach I used to be a caregiver. I was lucky enough to take care of the most wonderful lady named Ruth. She was the most positive amazing lady. She lived to be 100! Yes, you read that right. She even drove her car until her late 90’s. So now I look at age differently. I could live to be in my 90’s or even to a hundred. No one really knows how long they will live. It doesn’t matter. I choose to live each day fully and as present as possible. I wear my heart on my sleeve. Everyone in my life knows how much I love and appreciate them. Anyone can drop dead at any moment. We are all born to die, that’s just part of the deal getting to experience life on planet earth. It’s not how long you live it’s all about how you live.
Here’s a few tips I learned from Ruth.
* Limit your exposure to news, negative stories and commercials. She thought pharmaceutical commercials were hilarious. I don’t think she realized they were serious. It was like watching cartoons to her. See, she was a dietitian, she ate very healthy and limited her amount of medications. She took vitamins daily. She couldn’t get over the notion people had all those problems and were willing to take pills to try and solve them. It’s not that she didn’t respect the advances in medicine, she knew the value and used it when needed but just didn’t buy into the myth we all have something wrong with us that needs constant fixing.
* She was surrounded by people of all ages. She lived in her own home her whole life. She wasn’t surrounded by the a lot of people her own age so she didn’t buy into the fact as you got older you had to have aches and pains.
* She appreciated everything. She received great joy from taking drives around town, having tea parties and eating delicious food.
Why am I telling you all this? I’m hoping you’ll embrace wherever you are in your life. You are right where you need to be. You’ll know when you are ready for your next transition. You’ll start getting little inclings that it’s time for change. Roll with that change, embrace it! You’ve got nothing to loose, just new memories and experiences ready for you to partake in. That’s what i’m doing.
This next year is all about fun, playing a whole lot more, growing my business and living my life to the fullest.
I hope you have an awesome day!
