Large-Scale Link Building Plan: Possible challenges and solutions

The task building links on an extensive scale is very risky and fraught with challenges as the results are mostly depended on experimentation. You have to be very careful not to attract the attention of the search engines. Search engines like Google and Bing meticulously track any abnormalities in an SEO campaign and punish you severely if they detect anything abnormal. Escaping from their preying eyes is a big challenge for any SEO expert. Below are the challenges and possible solutions to a large-scale link building plan:

Sudden Increase in the Number of Back-links

This is a major problem with link building which can sometimes turn out to be very frustrating. In a hurry to beat our competitors, we go on building links only to realize later that we are not indexed at all due to extensive link building. The only possible solution in this case is to make the process of link building to look as natural as possible. Go for a limited number of valuable back-links. Move slowly by taking and documenting each link one by one and monitoring the progress. Always remember that in link building quality matters more than quantity.

Extensive Links from the Same Site

If search engines see your text linked to all the pages in a same website, then they will perceive it as an unnatural phenomenon. They will think that you both are connected someway and it is a case of text link purchase/sales. They will immediately discount all such links. The solution in such cases is to request webmaster to build links to you contextually. Give the webmaster multiple sets of text and keywords to embed the link to make them look more natural.

Similar Anchor Text Across all Back-links

Webmasters generally rely on a primary keyword and build as many links as possible. Technically speaking, having primary keywords in your anchor text is good. But search engines may think it as unnatural and discount all the back-links you have sourced. A good way to solve this problem is to take more than one variation of your primary keyword. For E.g. If your primary keyword is Cat, they you can use ‘White Cats’, ‘Black Cats’, as your primary anchor texts assuming them to be totally different keywords.

Increase in Number of Links from Brand New Sites

This problem will arise when you go on a link buying spree with brand new sites. Some people also build a network of blogs themselves to build more links to their site. Many people will resort to this technique as new websites are cheaper and offer more flexibility. Search engines will again suspect you and discount all your links to these new sites. The solution to this problem is not to stick to any one category and go for a mix of both old and new sites.

Link building is a very simple process when looked at in a long term perspective. But, you need to be careful if you are looking for quick results, more back-links in less time and immediate SERPs.

Hey I know this is off topic but I was wondering if you knew of any widgets
I could add to my blog that automatically tweet my newest twitter updates.
I’ve been looking for a plug-in like this for quite some time and was hoping
maybe you would have some experience with something like this.
Please let me know if you run into anything. I truly enjoy reading your blog and I look
    forward to your new updates.

Hello Jay, I do not know of any off the top of my head but if you search Google or join some WordPress groups on Facebook you should be able to find a solution. One thing I do recommend is to try out Hootsuite. You can set it up in the RSS feed settings to automatically tweet out each new blog post. Plus you can schedule all kinds of content including tweets, monitor G+, Facebook and more. I’m a huge fan. It makes my life much easier in my line of work. Thanks so much for stopping by my blog and especially for letting me know you enjoy my content.
